Denis Santachiara was born in Campagnola Emilia (Reggio Emilia). Autodidact, when he was very young, he worked as car sylist in De Tomaso Group, Maserati spa and other automotive brands. He has been designed art and design works, shown in different exhibits such as: Biennale di Venezia 1980, Documenta 8 (Kassel 1988), Triennale Design Museum 1984/86/96/01/04//07 since 1978.
Santachiara has been interested about technology as poetic design since ever, in 1984 he presented ““La Neomerce, il design dell’invenzione e dell’estasi artificiale” (Triennale Design Museum of Milan and Centre Pompidou, Parigi), a manifesto exhibit and international reference point for a new performative, techno-poetic and ironic design. He collaborated with the most important Italian and international design brands and he received much awards. His works are included in different permanent collections of the greatest international museums. In 2005, he introduced, by publishing an article on Repubblica magazine, the digital fabrication in design with conferences, lessons and workshop in several Universities and exhibits in Italy and abroad. In 2014, he established Cyrcus.it, a web space who sells design objects exclusively made in digital fabrication, with a particular attention for young designers. In 2016 Santachiara was special guest at Design Digit Fest of Toronto. In 2017 his book “Download Design” was published for the publishing company Il sole 24 Ore Cultura.
